The Duquesne Dukes are set to visit Ryan Center in Kingston, Rhode Island for an A-10 clash against the Rhode Island Rams. The Duquesne Dukes come into this matchup with a 15-2 record, and they will be looking to continue their success after winning their recent home game against the Fordham Rams, 58-56 in OT. Leading the way for the Duquesne Dukes was sophomore guard Lamar Norman Jr. as he recorded 20 points. Junior forward Marcus Weathers had a productive outing for the Dukes as he pitched in 8 points and 10 rebounds.

The Duquesne Dukes struggled shooting the ball against the Fordham Rams as they connected on 19 of their 51 field goal attempts (37.3%), but they were slightly better from behind the three-point line (40%). The Duquesne Dukes lost the turnover battle against the Fordham Rams (14-13), but they edged out the Rams in the rebounding department (37-33).

The Rhode Island Rams come into this matchup with a 12-5 record, and they will be looking to continue their success after winning their recent home game against the La Salle Explorers, 66-63. Leading the way for the Rhode Island Rams was junior guard Fatts Russell as he recorded 13 points and 2 steals. Joining Russell in the backcourt was senior guard Jeff Dowtin who had a productive outing for the Rams with 10 points and 2 steals.

The Rhode Island Rams struggled shooting the ball against the La Salle Explorers as they connected on 20 of their 49 field goal attempts (40.8%), and they were slightly worse from behind the three-point line (23.5%). The Rhode Island Rams won the turnover battle against the La Salle Explorers (22-16), but they were even with the Explorers in the rebounding department (33-33).

The Duquesne Dukes aren’t a household name, but they have emerged as a threat to win a good A-10 conference as they bring a perfect 5-0 record into this matchup. The Dukes have been great on the defensive side of the court, especially in conference play as they are holding their opponents to an average of 60 PPG, and they should keep a stagnant Rhode Island scoring attack in check (66.4 PPG). Duquesne has enjoyed an emergence from junior forward Marcus Weathers in A-10 play as he is averaging 15 PPG and 8 RPG, and he will be a test for the interior of the Rhode Island defense. Rhode Island has really struggled from behind the three-point line over their 5 conference games as they are only connecting on 27.6% of their attempts, and the Duquesne defense will force them to take those shots which will help get the Dukes out in transition. The Dukes at the very minimum will keep this game close, but I believe they win this with their stout defense. Final Score Prediction, Duquesne Dukes win and cover ATS 69-65.
