The seventh-seeded Michigan State Spartans play the second-seeded Duke Blue Devils on Sunday in the second round of the NCAA Tournament’s West Region at the Bon Secours Wellness Arena in Greenville, South Carolina. Michigan State defeated Davidson 74-73 on Friday in the first round. Joey Hauser was the leading scorer for Michigan State with 27 points. The Spartans outrebounded the Wildcats 35-32 in a closely contested game throughout.
Gabe Brown is the leading scorer for Michigan State with an average of 11.4 points per game, while Marcus Bingham Jr is the leading rebounder with an average of 6.1 rebounds per game and A.J. Hoggard is the leader in assists with an average of 4.9 assists per game. Michigan State has only one player averaging double-figures in scoring and as a team is scoring an average of 72.1 points per game.
Duke moved on to the second round with a 78-61 victory over CSU Fullerton in the first round on Friday. Paolo Banchero was the leading scorer for Duke with 17 points. The Blue Devils shot 51.7% and held CSU Fullerton to 37.5% shooting. Duke outrebounded the Titans 38-30. This is the final NCAA tournament for Duke head coach Mike Krzyzewski, who is retiring following the end of the season.
