On Friday, the Denver Pioneers visit McCarthey Athletic Center in Spokane, Washington to play the Gonzaga Bulldogs. Denver improved to 5-8 on the season following a 76-64 win over Montana State on Tuesday. The Pioneers were led by Ronnie Harrell Jr. with 24 points after the senior hit 6 of 9 from downtown.
Gonzaga improved to 10-2 on the season following its 89-55 rout of UT-Arlington. The Bulldogs were led in the 34-point win by Rui Hachimura with 20 points and 11 boards. The win stopped a two-game losing streak for the Bulldogs that included losses to Tennessee and North Carolina knocking them from No. 1 to No. 8 in the national rankings.
Ronnie Harrell Jr. leads the Pioneers in scoring, rebounding and assists with averages of 14.3 points, 5.2 rebounds and 2.8 assists per game. Denver has two other players besides Harrell averaging double figures in scoring. Denver is shooting 44.7% from the field and 39.7% from 3-point territory.
Rui Hachimura leads Gonzaga in scoring with an average of 21.6 points per game. Brandon Clarke is the third leading scorer and leader in rebounds with averages of 16.8 points and 8.2 rebounds per game. Josh Perkins is leading the Bulldogs in assists with an average of 8.0 per game. Gonzaga is shooting 52.2% from the field and 37.4% from 3-point territory.
