Creighton vs San Diego State 3/17/22 - College Basketball Picks & Predictions

In Thursday night NCAA Tournament first round action, the Creighton Bluejays will take on the San Diego State Aztecs. The ninth-seeded Bluejays (22-11) finished five games above .500 in Big East Conference play and are allowing 65.9 points per game. In Saturday’s conference tournament fina, Creighton shot 3-for-29 from the three-point line during a 54-48 loss against Villanova.

Creighton C Ryan Kalkbrenner led all scorers with 19 points on 8-for-11 from the field and grabbed eight rebounds. Arthur Kaluma added nine points and 12 rebounds for the Bluejays.

The San Diego State Aztecs finished with a 13-4 record in Mountain West Conference play and are one of the stingiest defensive teams in the country (57.7 ppg). In the conference tournament final, San Diego State was unable to make the plays down the stretch of a 53-52 loss against Boise State. The Aztecs (23-8) shot 35 percent from the field and neither team led by more than five points.

San Diego State G Matt Bradley tallied a game-high 17 points (6-17 FG) and seven rebounds. Lamont Butler added 16 points in a losing effort for the Aztecs. 

Creighton will be without PG Ryan Nembhard (11.3 ppg), who suffered a right injury in the final week of the regular season. The Bluejays made an improbable run to the conference title game, but the Aztecs will ride Matt Bradley to victory. Final Score Prediction, San Diego State Aztecs win 64-57.
