The second game of the Saturday NCAA Tournament schedule will feature a matchup between the Creighton Bluejays and the Kansas Jayhawks. The ninth-seeded Bluejays (23-11) are playing without starting PG Ryan Nembhard (11.3 ppg) and lost to Villanova in the Big East Tournament Final. On Thursday, Creighton overcame a 14-point deficit to earn a 72-69 overtime victory against San Diego State.

All five Creighton starters scored in double figures and were led by Trey Alexander with 18 points. Ryan Kalbrenner contributed 16 points and ten rebounds for the Bluejays.

The Kansas Jayhawks finished tied with Baylor for the Big 12 Conference regular season title and defeated Texas Tech to win the conference tournament. On Thursday, top-seeded Kansas led by 28 points at halftime and cruised to an 83-56 victory versus Texas Southern. The Jayhawks (29-6) knocked down 11-for-23 from the three-point line and shot 50 percent overall.

Remy Martin led five Kansas players in double figures with 15 points and four assists in 21 minutes off the bench. Christian Braun added 14 points, five rebounds, and four assists for the Jayhawks.

Creighton C Ryan Kalkbrenner left Thursday’s victory with a knee injury and is unlikely to play in this game.
