On Sunday, the winless Coppin State Eagles visit Fertitta Center in Houston, Texas to play the undefeated and No. 21 ranked Houston Cougars. Coppin State fell to 0-13 on the season following its 80-63 loss on Friday night to the UL Monroe Warhawks. Lamar Morgan led the Eagles with 19 points and seven rebounds in the loss, prior to fouling out.
Houston improved to 11-0 on the season following its 60-50 win over Utah State on Thursday. Armoni Brooks led the Cougars in the win with 15 points all of which came during the second half. The Cougars played poorly in the first half and trailed by 10 points 31-21 at the break, but behind Brooks’ scoring rallied to outscore the Aggies 39-19 after the break to win by 10.
Lamar Morgan leads the Eagles in scoring with an average of 10.5 points per game. Chad Andrews-Fulton leads the Eagles in rebounds with an average of 4.5 per game. Dejuan Clayton is the leader in assists with an average of 2.5 per game. Coppin State is shooting 36.8% from the field and 25.7% from 3-point territory.
Armoni Brooks leads Houston in scoring and rebounding with averages of 15.7 points and 7.2 rebounds per game. Corey Davis Jr. is the second leading scorer with an average of 15.0 points per game. Galen Robinson Jr. leads the Cougars in assists with an average of 5.7 per game. Houston is shooting 43.6% from the field and 33.7% from 3-point territory.
