The Columbia Lions visit Silvio Conte Forum in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts on Wednesday to play the Boston College Eagles. Columbia improved to 3-6 on the season and won its second straight with a 74-71 victory over Iona on Sunday at New York’s Madison Square Garden. The Lions were led by Jake Killingsworth who scored 14 points. Columbia sank five free throws over the last 30 seconds to preserve the win.
Boston College had its most recent outing against Texas A&M cancelled due to a mechanical issue with the chartered plane the Eagles were going to use and bad weather complicated the issue. The Eagles last to Providence in overtime in the most recent game played a week ago. The Eagles were led in the overtime loss by Jordan Chatman with 28 points and Ky Bowman and Wynston Tabbs with 17 apiece.
Mike Smith leads Columbia in scoring and assists with averages of 15.8 points and 5.0 assists per game. Two other players are averaging double figures in scoring for the Lions. Randy Brumant is the leading rebounder with an average of 7.6 per game. Columbia is shooting 46.2% from the field and 38.8% from 3-point territory.
Ky Bowman leads the Eagles in scoring and assists with averages of 19.1 points and 3.6 assists per game. Steffon Mitchell leads BC in rebounding with an average of 9.3 per game.
