The Colgate Raiders are set to visit Carrier Dome in Syracuse, New York for a non-conference clash against the Syracuse Orange. The Colgate Raiders come into this matchup with a 1-1 record, and they will be looking to rebound after dropping their recent road game against the Clemson Tigers, 81-68. Leading the way for the Colgate Raiders was sophomore guard Tucker Richardson as he recorded 16 points. Joining Richardson in the backcourt was junior guard Jordan Burns who had a productive outing for the Raiders as he pitched in 15 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 assists.

The Colgate Raiders had a good shooting game against the Clemson Tigers as they connected on 26 of their 57 field goal attempts (45.6%), but they were slightly worse from behind the three-point line (33.3%). The Colgate Raiders lost the turnover battle against the Clemson Tigers (18-12), and they were edged out by the Tigers in the rebounding department (36-27).

The Syracuse Orange come into this matchup with a 0-1 record, and they will be looking to rebound after dropping their recent home game against the Virginia Cavaliers, 48-34. Leading the way for the Syracuse Orange was junior forward Elijah Hughes as he recorded 14 points and 5 rebounds. Sophomore guard Buddy Boeheim struggled against a stout Virginia defense as he connected on 3 of his 12 field goal attempts for 7 points.

The Syracuse Orange struggled shooting the ball against the Virginia Cavaliers as they connected on 13 of their 55 field goal attempts (23.6%), and they were slightly worse from behind the three-point line (17.2%). The Syracuse Orange won the turnover battle against the Virginia Cavaliers (16-9), but they were dominated by the Cavaliers in the rebounding department (47-28).

The Syracuse Orange were awful in scoring the basketball against the Virginia Cavaliers as they shot 23.6% on their home court, but the Colgate Raiders won’t pose as much as a threat. Colgate has one of the most underrated guards in the country with Jordan Burns (16.3 PPG, 5.7 APG in 2018), but the Syracuse Orange have a good defense and the zone should disrupt Burns. Syracuse will be dependent on Elijah Hughes this season as he can score the basketball at will, but Jim Boeheim will need another piece to step up. Syracuse will need to be much better rebounding out of the zone as they allowed Virginia to rack up 47 total rebounds, but Colgate doesn’t have much size after their 6’10 center. Expect Syracuse to respond with a nice win on their home court against an in-state foe. Final Score Prediction, Syracuse Orange win and cover ATS 70-55.
