Coastal Carolina vs Pepperdine 3/24/21 - College Basketball Invitational Picks & Predictions

The  Coastal Carolina Chanticleers play the Pepperdine Waves on Monday in the championship game of the CBI Tournament at Ocean Center in Daytona Beach, Florida. Coastal Carolina defeated the Stetson Hatters 77-72 in one semifinal of the tournament on Tuesday. Essam Mostafa was the leading scorer for Coastal Carolina with 22 points. The Chanticleers shot 44.4% overall and held Stetson to 41.4% shooting.

DeVante’ Jones is leading Coastal Carolina in scoring with an average of 19.8 points per game, while Essam Mostafa is the leading rebounder with an average of 9.0 per game and Ebrima Dibba is the leader in assists with an average of 5.6 assists per game. Pepperdine defeated the Bellarmine Knights 82-71 in its semifinal matchup of the CBI on Tuesday. Pepperdine trailed 50-41 halftime but outscored the Knights 41-21 after the break to win by 11 points. Kessler Edwards was the leading scorer for Pepperdine with 28 points. Pepperdine shot 56.1% overall and 46.2% from 3-point territory and the Waves outrebounded Bellarmine 38-25.

Colbey Ross is leading Pepperdine in scoring and assists with averages of 17.6 points and 7.7 assists per game, while Kessler Edwards is the second leading scorer and leading rebounder with averages of 17.5 points and 6.8 rebounds per game. Pepperdine has only two players Ross and Edwards averaging double figures in scoring. As a team, the Waves are scoring an average of 76.3 points per game while shooting 45.6% overall and 32.2% from 3-point territory.

Pepperdine played superbly in the second half of their semifinals match up against Bellarmine, as the Waves rallied from a nine-point halftime deficit. Colbey Ross and Kessler Edwards will be too much on the offensive end for Coastal Carolina to handle. Pepperdine has covered the number in five of its last six overall and will use the inside/outside play of Ross and Edwards that has produced an average of 35.1 points per game this season, to beat the Chanticleers.
