The Charleston Cougars will play the UNC Wilmington Seahawks Monday night in the CAA conference championship. Charleston ended a two game losing streak Sunday night with a 92-76 win over Hofstra after shooting 54.8% from the floor.
John Meeks had one of his best games of the season posting a team high 31 points on 11 of 16 shooting in the game. Raekwon Horton chipped in 13 points and Brendan Tucker added twelve points as the third starter to score in double figures.
The UNC Wilmington Seahawks have been one of the top teams in this conference for the entire season and that continued Sunday with a 17 point win over Elon. Defensively the Seahawks stifled Elon holding the Phoenix to 39.2% shooting from the floor and forced nine turnovers to coast to the easy win.
Offensively this season UNC Wilmington has averaged 71.1 points per game on 41.8% shooting as a team. Jaylen Sims leads the team averaging 15.7 points per game to go along with a team high 5.6 rebounds and a team leading 2.3 assists. Mike Okauru is second on the team scoring 12.8 points and Shykeim Phillips chips 11.3 points on 46.4% shooting.
