The Charleston Cougars will take on the Hofstra Pride Sunday afternoon in round one of the CAA Tournament. Charleston comes into the conference tournament two games above .500 on the year after finishing the regular season on a two game losing streak. Charleston lost to this Hofstra team to close the regular season after allowing the Pride to score 89 points on 46% shooting from the floor.
Offensively Charleston played well against last remaining making 51.8% of their shots and 52.4% from beyond the arc to score 84 points but turned the ball over 28 times leading to the loss. Ben Burnham and Reyne Smith led the way for the Charleston offense scoring 19 points each. Babcar Faye provided a spark off the bench leading the team with 10 points and seven rebounds in 16 minutes.
The Hofstra Pride enter the conference tournament after winning four of the last five games played following the five point win over Charleston. The Hofstra offense shot the ball extremely well against Charleston making 46% of their shots and 33.3% from beyond the arc as the Pride scored 89 total points in 40 minutes.
Offensively this season Hofstra has five players averaging double figures as Aaron Estrada leads the team averaging 18.5 points per game to go along with a team high 5 assists. Jalen Ray is second on the team averaging 13.1 points and Zach Cooks chips in a third best 12.4.
