Central Michigan at Toledo 1/14/20 - NCAA Basketball Picks & Predictions

The Central Michigan Chippewas are set to visit Savage Arena in Toledo, Ohio for a MAC clash against the Toledo Rockets. The Central Michigan Chippewas come into this matchup with a 9-7 record, and they will be looking to rebound after dropping their recent road game against the Kent State Golden Flashes, 79-73. Leading the way for the Central Michigan Chippewas was senior forward Rob Montgomery as he recorded 16 points and 7 rebounds. Senior guard Dallas Morgan had a productive outing for the Chippewas as he pitched in 14 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 assists.

The Central Michigan Chippewas had a solid shooting game against the Kent State Golden Flashes as they connected on 26 of their 64 field goal attempts (40.6%), but they were slightly worse from behind the three-point line (36.4%). The Central Michigan Chippewas won the turnover battle against the Kent State Golden Flashes (15-13), but they were edged out by the Golden Flashes in the rebounding department (42-34).

The Toledo Rockets come into this matchup with a 9-7 record, and they will be looking to continue their success after winning their recent home game against the Western Michigan Broncos, 67-59. Leading the way for the Toledo Rockets was senior center Luke Knapke as he recorded 14 points and 10 rebounds. Joining Knapke in the frontcourt was senior forward Willie Jackson who had a productive outing for the Rockets with 12 points and 16 rebounds.

The Toledo Rockets had a good shooting game against the Western Michigan Broncos as they connected on 27 of their 56 field goal attempts (48.2%), but they were significantly worse from behind the three-point line (27.8%). The Toledo Rockets lost the turnover battle against the Western Michigan Broncos (15-7), but they dominated the Broncos in the rebounding department (46-29).

The Toledo Rockets have underperformed this season as they bring a 9-7 record into this matchup, and I don’t believe they are 9 points better than a solid Central Michigan team. The Chippewas are one of the top-scoring teams in the country as they are averaging 84.4 PPG, and they have an abundance of guys who can make an impact as 4 different guys are averaging over 11 PPG. The Toledo Rockets haven’t had much success scoring the basketball in conference play as they are only averaging 67 PPG, and it will be tough for them to outscore a Central Michigan team that ranks 2nd in college basketball in the same category. The Toledo Rockets have a major strength with their forwards and I expect them to use that to their advantage, but expect the Chippewas to keep this one close. Final Score Prediction, Toledo Rockets win but fail to cover ATS 76-74.
