The California Baptist Lancers will open the first round of the CBI tournament Saturday afternoon in Daytona Florida against the Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders. California Baptist finished the season three games above .500 after ending the year with a 30 point loss to Sam Houston. Offensively California Baptist was terrible in the final game of the season making only 24.5% of their shots and 11.5% from beyond the arc leading to the blowout loss.
Taran Armstrong was the only bright spot for the California Baptist offense scoring a team high 11 points on three of nine shooting in 31 minutes on the floor. Ty Rowell added six points and a team high 5 rebounds, while Juhlawnei Stone chipped in a team best eight points in 13 minutes off the bench.
The Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders struggled to end the year losing three of the last four games including a four point triple overtime loss to UAB to close the year. Defensively Middle Tennessee was obliterated by UAB as the Blazers made 43.7% of their shots to score 102 points in the game including 40 in the overtime periods
Deandre Dishman carried the Middle Tennessee offense in the final game of the season with a team high 25 points to go along with nine rebounds on 11 of 21 shooting in 47 minutes on the floor. Donovan Sims chipped in 21 points in 49 minutes and Camryn Weston added 17 points in 40 minutes off the bench.
