On Thursday, the BYU Cougars visit Alex G. Spanos Center in Stockton, California to play the Pacific Tigers in a West Coast Conference showdown. The Cougars fell to 8-7 on the season following a 103-81 loss to Mississippi State on Saturday. The loss was BYU’s third straight and the Cougars have lost each of their three games this season versus ranked opponents.
Pacific improved to 10-5 on the season following its 84-75 overtime win over UC Irvine. The Tigers were led by Ajare Sanni who scored 23 points, with 10 coming during overtime. Roberto Gallinat scored 20 in the win. Pacific has now won four of its last five heading into conference play.
Yoeli Childs is leading BYU in scoring and rebounding with averages of 22.3 points and 10.0 rebounds per game. Two other players, TJ Haws (17.3 ppg.) and Jahshire Hardnett (11.2 ppg.) are averaging double figures. Haws is leading the Cougars in assists with an average of 5.0 per game. BYU is shooting 47.8% from the field and 30.4% from 3-point territory.
Roberto Gallinat leads Pacific in scoring with an average of 14.6 points per game. Jahlil Tripp leads the Tigers in rebounds with an average of 6.5 per game and is the team leader in assists with an average of 3.0 per game. Pacific is shooting 45.5% from the field and 35.2% from 3-point territory.
