The Big East Tournament will tip-off on Wednesday afternoon with a matchup between the Butler Bulldogs and the Xavier Musketeers. The Bulldogs (13-18) finished tied with DePaul for the second fewest wins in conference play and have been plagued by offensive woes (63.1 ppg). On Saturday, Butler trailed by 14 points at halftime and shot 36 percent from the field during a 78-59 home loss versus Villanova.
Butler G Chuck Harris led all scorers with 19 points on a 7-for-13 shooting performance. Bo Hodges added 12 points and six rebounds in a losing effort for the Bulldogs.
The Xavier Musketeers have dropped seven of their previous nine games and are scoring 73.7 points per contest. On Saturday, Xavier snapped a five-game losing streak with a 97-75 home victory versus Georgetown. The Musketeers (18-12) knocked down 14-for-25 from the three-point line and shot a sizzling 55 percent overall.
Xavier G Nate Johnson connected on 7-for-11 from long distance and poured in a game-high 25 points. Colby Jones contributed 16 points, seven assists, and six rebounds for the Musketeers.
