On Friday, the No. 24 ranked Auburn Tigers visit Alumni Hall in Annapolis, Maryland to play the Davidson Wildcats. The Tigers are 1-0 after opening the season with an 83-74 victory over Georgia Southern. Auburn was led in the win by Samir Doughty with 20 points, while J’Von McCormick handed out a team high four assists.

Samir Doughty is leading the Tigers in scoring with an average of 20.0 points per game. The leading rebounder is Austin Wiley with an average of 9.0 per game, while J’Von McCormick leads in assists with an average of 4.0 per game. Four players for Auburn are averaging double figures in scoring.

Davidson will be playing its opening game of the regular season against Auburn. Last season the Wildcats were 23-8 and finished second in the Atlantic 10, but were ousted by Saint Louis in the semifinals of the conference tournament and in the first round of the NIT by Lipscomb. Nearly the entire roster from last season returns for the Wildcats except for Nathan Ekwu.

The backcourt tandem of Jon Axel Gudmundsson and Kellan Grady averaged a combined 34 points per game, 11.8 rebounds and 6.7 assists last season. KiShawn Pritchett is an important backcourt player and was second in the conference in three-point shooting. Luke Frampton and Carter Collins are both back to help out with depth. Frampton is the sharpshooter for the Wildcats. Luka Brajkovic is a strong forward who will be counted on to rebound.

Auburn has a deep roster led by Samir Doughty, Austin Wiley and Danjel Purifoy. The Tigers are ranked No. 24 in the nation and top to bottom are more talented than Davidson. In addition, the Tigers have played on game already this season in which they disposed of Georgia Southern and this will be Davidson’s first of the regular season.
