Army at Lafayette 1/16/22 - College Basketball Picks & Predictions

The Army Black Knights will end a short homestand Sunday afternoon with a visit to Easton, PA to take on the Lafayette Leopards. Army comes into Sunday 10-7 overall and 4-1 in conference after winning four of the last five games played including a 10 point victory against Boston University last game played. Defensively Army stifled Boston holding the Terriers to 39.3% shooting and forced 14 turnovers leading to the double digit win. 

The Army offense shined against Boston shooting 25 and 55 from the floor to score 73 total points in the ball game. Josh Caldwell was the leading scorer for Army against Boston with 16 points on 8 of 17 from the floor. Jalen Rucker added 12 points and four assists and Nolan Naess added a team high 11 points in 16 minutes off the bench. 

The Lafayette Leopards are one of the worst teams in the nation and return home Sunday riding a three game losing streak following a 14 point loss to Loyola Maryland. Defensively Lafayette was obliterated as the Greyhounds made 55.1% of their shots and 53.3% from beyond the arc to score 74 points in 40 minutes of action.

 Much of the Lafayette struggles this season are due to a below average offense averaging only 67.6 points per game on 41.4% shooting as a team. Neil Quinn leads the Lafayette offense with 13 points to go along with a team high 7.9 rebounds per game period Tyrone Perry is second on the team in scoring with 12.2 points per game on 44.1% shooting and Kyle Jenkins adds in a third best 10.8 points as the only other leopard averaging double digits.
