Arkansas at Mississippi State 1/22/20 - College Basketball Picks & Predictions

The Arkansas Razorbacks are set to visit Humphrey Coliseum in Starkville, Mississippi for an SEC clash against the Mississippi State Bulldogs. The Arkansas Razorbacks come into this matchup with a 14-3 record, and they will be looking to rebound after dropping their recent home game against the Kentucky Wildcats, 73-66. Leading the way for the Arkansas Razorbacks was junior guard Mason Jones as he recorded 19 points and 6 rebounds. Joining Jones in the backcourt was senior guard Jimmy Whitt Jr. who had a productive outing for the Razorbacks with 14 points and 5 rebounds.

The Arkansas Razorbacks struggled shooting the ball against the Kentucky Wildcats as they connected on 19 of their 57 field goal attempts (33.3%), and they were slightly worse from behind the three-point line (30.8%). The Arkansas Razorbacks won the turnover battle against the Kentucky Wildcats (16-11), but they were dominated by the Wildcats in the rebounding department (47-29).

The Mississippi State Bulldogs come into this matchup with an 11-6 record, and they will be looking to continue their success after winning their recent home game against the Georgia Bulldogs, 91-59. Leading the way for the Mississippi State Bulldogs was sophomore guard Reggie Perry as he recorded 22 points, 12 rebounds, and 6 assists. Senior guard Tyson Carter had a productive outing off the bench for the Bulldogs as he pitched in 18 points.

The Mississippi State Bulldogs had a good shooting game against the Georgia Bulldogs as they connected on 30 of their 61 field goal attempts (61.7%), but they were significantly worse from behind the three-point line (30%). The Mississippi State Bulldogs were even with the Georgia Bulldogs in the turnover battle (10-10), but they dominated the Bulldogs in the rebounding department (40-22).

The Arkansas Razorbacks suffered their first loss of the season to the ranked Kentucky Wildcats, but they have been the more consistent team in SEC play as the Mississippi State Bulldogs are 2-3 in conference. The Razorbacks have been great on the defensive side of the court this season as they are holding their opponents to an average of 62.1 PPG, but they also have an explosive backcourt as Isiah Joe is averaging 17.5 PPG while Mason Jones is pitching in 18.2 PPG. The Mississippi State Bulldogs won’t have much success from behind the three-point line as Arkansas ranks 1st in college basketball in three-point percentage (23.5%) which means they will have to play through Reggie Perry in the paint. The Razorbacks were dominated by the Kentucky Wildcats in the rebounding department, but I think they make a better effort to control the boards. Arkansas is the better team and I expect them to win this outright. Final Score Prediction, Arkansas Razorbacks win and cover ATS 71-67.
