Wood Memorial 4/9/22 - Horse Racing Picks & Predictions
The Wood Memorial is taking place on Saturday, April 9th 2022. The race is being run on the 1 1/8 mile track at 4:45 in the afternoon.
Mo Donegal is the horse coming out of the first post and is one of the favorites at 5-2. Donegal comes to the race after finishing in third place in the Holy Bull (G3). Mo Donegal did finish behind a couple of other Derby contenders in the race.
Golden Code is coming out of the second post and is sitting at 15-1 odds. Golden Code has shown some good wins, with the main one being an 11 length win. However, in the Gotham (G3) field Golden Code was pushed to finish third in the race.
Early Voting comes out of the third post and is sitting at 3-1 odds. Early Voting has yet to lose on the year so far and has been impressive in the track and even has run two races at the Aqueduct. However, Early Voting has not run recently and should be well rested.
Long Term is sitting at 20-1 odds and coming out of the fourth post. Long Term has not won any races at all in his career and has 4 second place finishes, which will not help out. Throw in the fact that the past few races have been a disappointment for Long Term who was favored to win the races prior.
Morello is sitting in the 5th post and is coming in at 9-5 odds. Morello is coming here as another unbeaten horse in the race and is coming from the barn of Steve Asmussen. The longest race for Morello has been a mile long race and his distance has gradually increased, which could help Morello look like a strong pick.
Skippylongstocking comes out of the 6th post and is sitting at 12-1 odds. In one of his previous races Skippylongstocking did end up going the 1 1/8 mile distance that is shown here, which should help here. However, look for this long shot to actually compete in the race here with the prior experience.
A,P.’s Secret heads out of the 7th post and is sitting at 12-1 odds. Now, A.P.’s Secret is coming up from Florida after having his heels clipped in the Florida Derby which prevented him from running as good as he could have. So the Wood Memorial is a chance for A.P.’s Secret to get back onto the Derby trail.
Barese is sitting at the 8th post and is sitting at 8-1 odds. Barese is coming in as the last of the unbeaten horses running at the Wood Memorial. Barese in his last race ran a full mile and took the Gander race by gradually increasing his length in the race.
With three unbeaten horses in the Wood Memorial the race will definitely be a good one. However, their can only be one winner and the horse that has gradually increased their distance will definitely be the one we back here.
