The 2019 Preakness will run on May 18 from Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore, Maryland. The second leg of the Triple Crown has a post time of 6:45 P.M. EST. Kentucky Derby winner Country House, who won by a disqualification, will not run the second race of the Triple Crown because of a developing cough making him the first Kentucky Derby winner in 23 years not to compete at the Preakness.

This will be the first time in Preakness Stakes history that the first four horses to cross the finish line at the Kentucky Derby are not running in the Preakness. Those four are Maximum Security, Country House, Code of Honor and Tacitus. The current favorite in the field of 13 on Saturday is Improbable at 5 to 2, who finished fourth at the Derby. War of Will at 4 to 1 is the second betting favorite and finished seventh in the run for the roses. Improbable drew the No. 4 post position, while War of Will leaves the gate on the rail from the No. 1 position. The third best betting favorite Anothertwistafate at 6 to 1 drew the No 12 position and will have to work his way in toward the rail down the first stretch. Alwaysmining at 8 to 1 has the fourth best odds and drew the No. 7 post position.

The remainder of the 13-horse field includes: Owendale 10 to 1 leaving from the No. 5 post position, Bourbon War at 12 to 1 leaving from No. 2, Warriors Charge at 12 to 1 leaving from No. 3, Win Win Win at 15 to 1 leaving from No. 13, Bodexpress at 20 to 1 leaving from No. 9, Laughing Fox at 20 to 1 leaving from No. 11, Market King at 30 to 1 leaving from No. 6, Signalman at 30 to 1 leaving from No. 8, and Everfast at 50 to 1 leaving from No. 10.
