Louisiana Downs 5/23/22 - Horse Racing Picks & Predictions

Louisiana Downs host 7 races on Monday and those races should have plenty of action. Look for the races to be slower paced for the most part, though, compared to what has happened in the past. 

The first race is a 6 1/2 furlong run on dirt with a 9,000 dollar purse. The favorite in the race is Fredonian at 3/2 odds. The favorite should be the pick as well with the outer rail position and good speed it should be easy to see the favorite winning. Race 1 Pick: Fredonian.

With the second race it is a 7 furlong run on dirt with a 9,000 dollar purse. The favorite in the race is Confess at 2/1 odds. Still the horse that should have a good run here is ridden by Jorge Guzman and that is Gildersleeve who is coming out of the first post. Race 2 Pick: Gildersleeve.

For the third race it is a 5 1/2 furlong run with a 24,000 dollar purse. The favorite at 1/1 odds is Onerollofthedice. With the good jockey riding it will be difficult to pick against the favorite in this race. Race 3 Pick: Onerollofthedice.

A 5 1/2 furlong race is what takes place in the fourth race and it has a 9,000 dollar purse. The favorite in the race is Despeight All Odds at 2/1 odds. With that being the case and coming off the rail that will hurt the chances, but look for a longer shot in the races here with Brianne Culp riding the 10/1 odds Star Prado. Race 4 Pick: Star Prado.

In the fifth race of the day it is a 10,500 dollar purse with a 1 mile run on turf. The favorite is Choppa Style coming in at 3/1 odds. Still with the crowded field here it may be a boxed trifecta that would work best for everyone. Race 5 Pick: Boxed Trifecta Monarch Man, Heliochrome, and Choppa Style.

A 7 furlong run is what takes place in the 6th race of the day and it has a 10,500 dollar purse. The favorite in the race is Lou’s Arrow at 3/1 odds. The horse to back in this race is actually a Steven M. Asmussen trained horse in Level. Race 6 Pick: Level.

The final race wraps up with a 13,500 dollar purse for a 7 1/2 furlong run on turf. The favorite in the race here is Lucky Gone Sweet at 8/5 odds. Look for the Reiner to be the favorite with a strong jockey and a great trainer and the outside rail advantage. Race 7 Pick: Lucky Gone Sweet.
