The 2019 Lexington Stakes is considered one of the last important prep races for the Kentucky Derby and will be run at 1 1/16 miles or 8.5 furloughs on Kenneland’s dirt track on April 13. The last horse to win the Lexington Stakes – Kentucky Derby double was Charismatic back in 1991.

The top four finishers will have 34 points at a ratio of 20-8-4-2. The 38th running of the Lexington Stakes will be the ninth race of Saturday’s 11-races at Keeneland Racecourse with a post time of 5:34 p.m. ET. Leading the field of 10 thoroughbreds are Anothertwistafate at 8 to 5 and Sueno at 7-2. Anothertwistafate finished second in the March 24 Sunland Park Derby and the Northern California 3-year old stayed at Sunland to train until last week. Anothertwistafate will have Javier Castellano aboard for the first time, when the thoroughbred breaks from the No. 4 post. Sueno has finished runner-up in the Sham and Southwest and third in the Louisiana Derby and will have Corey Lanerie aboard breaking from the No. 3 position.

Another in the field to keep an eye on is Knicks Go (12-to 1) the winner of Claiborne Breeders Futurity last fall and a runner up at the Breeder’s Club Juvenile, but finished a distant seventh in his most recent outing the Gotham. Knicks to Go will break from the No. 7 post position with Albin Jimenez aboard. The remainder of the field consists of Shang at 15 to 1, Hawaiian Noises at 15 to 1, Harvey Wallbanger at 8 to 1, Chase the Ghost at 20 to 1, Owendale at 20 to 1, Zenden at 8 to 1 and Roiland at 12 to 1.

Think the wrong horse is favored in this years Lexington Stakes as the Louisiana Derby loss was much more about Sueno being up to close to the lead. With more speed in the Lexington Derby Sueno will be further back and that spells big trouble as the much stronger kick will be enough for nice Lexington Stakes win.
