Kentucky Oaks 2018 - Free Handicapping Picks, Odds, & Predictions

The Kentucky Oaks will be run for the 144th time on Friday at 6:12 p.m. EST at Churchill Downs. The Grade 1 Stakes race is 1 1/8 mile in length and will have a purse of $1 million.

On Monday, the Kentucky Oaks post-position draw was held and Monomoy Girl the morning-line favorite at 2 to 1 drew post No. 14. The second betting choice Midnight Bisou at 5 to 2 drew the No. 10 post.

Monomoy Girl is Brad Cox-trained and will have Florent Geroux on board. By drawing the No. 14 post Monomoy Girl will have to break from the outside.

Cox will also have 15 to 1 Sassy Sienna at the other bookend with the No. 1 post position and Gary Stevens will be riding. Irad Ortiz will ride Kelly’s Humor the third Cox-trained horse and she is currently at 30 to 1. Brad Cox said the No. 14 position is not an ideal one but he and his handlers will huddle together and put a game plan in place for the race favorite. Monomoy Girl won the Ashland Stakes April 7 after also winning the Rachel Alexandra during February.

Cox said that his filly is 2 for 2 and used a different running style in each race and that shows what versatility she has.

Midnight Bisou the second betting choice at 5/2 is trained by Bill Spawr and will have Mike Smith aboard.

Coach Rocks is Dale Romans-trained and co-owned by Rick Pitino the former basketball coach with the Louisville Cardinals. She drew the No. 2 post and is also at 12 to 1.

The remainder of the 14 filly field is Classy Act at 15 to 1, Chocolate Martini at 12 to 1, Wonder Gadot at 20 to 1, Rayya at 15 to 1, Heavenhasmynikki at 30 to 1, Take Charge Paula at 15 to 1, My Miss Molly at 10 to 1, Patrona Margarita at 30 to 1 and Eskimo Kisses at 15 to 1.
