The Memphis Grizzlies travel on the road to the Target Center to take on the Minnesota Timberwolves. Memphis is a team trending in the right direction last season but fell just short of the playoffs losing in the play-in game to the Blazers. Minnesota finished second to last in the Western Conference with a 19-45 record and dropped the first game of their 2021 preseason with a 107-105 loss to the Grizzlies.

Memphis is led by a ton of young, talented stars including returning rookie of the year Ja Morant. Morant averaging 17.8 points and 7.3 assists per game while shooting 47.7% from the field in his rookie season, and had 22 points and 11 assists in the first preseason game of the season. Young star Jaren Jackson Jr. is also back, he averaged 17.4 points and pulled down 4.6 rebounds in his second year for the Grizzlies.

The Timberwolves es have almost a completely new look team coming into this season, outside of center Karl Anthony Town, the Timberwolves added Andrew Wiggins and Deangelo Russell from the Warriors, as well as another reserve point guard in Jeff Teague. Minnesota also had the #1 overall pick in the NBA draft and with it took Anthony Edwards, out of Georgia. The Timberwolves could take a huge step forward with a busy off-season.

Both of these teams are looking to find themselves in the playoffs at the end of the 2021 season, and both have a chance to do so. With the Grizzlies coming off a win to start their season over the Timberwolves in their first preseason game, the Timberwolves bounced back as they continue to figure out what players are going to play what roles in the new year.

Minnesota gets a nice win as the Grizzlies will lay off playing their young, key-stars for too many minutes. The Timberwolves need all the time playing together they can get and played their starters, as well as Edwards for 20+ minutes in the first game. We can expect more of that and the Timberwolves win the game to get back to 1-1 in the preseason. Final score prediction, Timberwolves win and cover ATS 99-91.
