Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf Sprints 11/03/23 - Horse Racing Pick & Predictions

On November 3-4 Santa Anita Park in Arcadia, California will host the 40th annual Breeders’ Cup World Championships. Be prepared for all the Breeders Cup action with our horse racing picks. Fourteen races will be run over the two-day event with total awards and purses in excess of $31 million. The Breeders’ Cup World Championship is the sports’ premier racing event of the year. The world's best thoroughbreds will take part following qualifying races that took place across the globe.

The Juvenile Turf Sprint is five furlongs on turf and debuted just 5 years ago when the Breeders’ Cup was at Churchill Downs. This race run on grass is open to 2-year-olds, both male and female, and has a purse of $1 million with a limit of 12 starters.

Last year the race was won by Mischief Magic. This year's field is led by Big Evs (3 to 1) from Ireland who will have Tom Marquand on board and is trained by Michael Appleby. The thoroughbred lost by a half length in his first start this past May but over the next two outings was victorious.

Crimson Advocate and No May Mets each have the second best odds at 4 to 1. Crimson Advocate will be ridden by John Valazquez and is trained by George Weaver. The thoroughbred was third in her first race during 2023 at Keeneland, but earned a victory next time out on May 13th at Gulfstream Park. Crimson Advocate was able to win in England on June 21 and at 5 furlongs was victorious on turf.

No Nay Mets will be ridden by Irad Ortiz Jr and is trained by George Weaver. The 2-year old colt has a pedigree for a speedy miler and has been victorious in stakes races both in Florida and New Jersey. No Nay Mets must be taken into consideration amongst this field.

This short five furlong event has become a fan favorite in just five years since beginning in 2018 at Churchill Downs. The turf race has spectators on their feet from start to finish and I like No Nay Mets to cross the wire first amongst the field on Friday as the colt will leave the gate quickly, take an early lead and not relinquish that throughout, to win by at least a length. Pick: No Nay Mets.
