Breeders' Cup Juvenile 11/03/23 - Horse Racing Picks & Predictions

On November 3-4 Santa Anita Park in Arcadia, California will host the 40th annual Breeders’ Cup World Championships. Be prepared for all the Breeders Cup action with our horse racing picks. Fourteen races will be run over the two-day event with total awards and purses in excess of $31 million. The Breeders’ Cup World Championship is the sports’ premier racing event of the year. The world's best thoroughbreds will take part following qualifying races that took place across the globe.

The Breeders’ Cup Juvenile is 11/16 of a mile for two-year olds. This is the richest race for 2-year-olds in all of North America with a $2 million purse. This is often a preview for thoroughbreds that will be in the Triple Crown the following year and is the highlight of the Future Stars Friday of races for two year olds on opening day of the championship.

Holding the best odds at this moment is Locked at 7 to 2, but four other horses are 4 to 1. Jose Ortiz will be on board Locked and Todd A Pletcher is the trainer. Locked has been unbeatable over the last two starts after stretching out distance in both. Locked was a winner in the Breeders’ Futurity on October 7 giving him an automatic berth into this event. Locked finished in 1:44.62 in the 11/16 event.

While a long shot, Noted at 20 to 1 cannot be overlooked. Irad Ortiz Jr will be on board and the trainer is Todd A Pletcher. Noted was second at Belmont to open his career. Noted- aced plenty of trouble at the beginning of that race but after a wide run with Ortiz Jr on board he rallied to take second. A month later racing 11/16 at Saratoga, Noted was able to maintain a strong pace throughout and a late surge resulted in a win by half length.

While Locked has the best odds and four other thoroughbreds are 5 to 1 or better, my money is on Noted, who ran into plenty of problems when racing at Belmont Park but was able to rally to finish second while the next time out at Saratoga took a lead and rebuffed a late foe by accelerating and posting a win. Look for much the same from Noted on Friday, with the result being victory for the longshot. Pick: Noted.
