The Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Sprint is seven furlongs in length with a purse of $1 million. The race is around one turn and for females that are 3 years old and older and is the richest race in North America for female sprinters. The heavy favorite (6 to 5) in this race is Goodnight Olive. Irad Ortiz Jr will be on board and Chad C Brown is the trainer. Goodnight Olive won the 2022 Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Sprint by 2 1/2 lengths and will be tough to catch this year.
The second best odds belong to Society at 5 to 2. Tyler Gaffalione will be on board and Steven M Asmussen is the trainer. Society returned to form when setting a new track record at the Chicago Stakes, after leading wire to wire and winning by over 10 lengths. In 11 lifetime starts, Society has seven wins and one show with earnings of nearly $1.5 million.
Although the heavy favorite is Goodnight Olive, we like Society, who returned to form back in June with a 10+ length victory in the Chicago Stakes, which is the same distance as this race. She won again on August 25th at Charlestown and will be too fast out of the gate and around the turn for anyone including Goodnight Olive to maintain pace and much less out sprint over the final furlough.
