Breeders' Cup Dirt Mile 11/04/23 - Horse Racing Picks & Predictions

On November 3-4 Santa Anita Park in Arcadia, California will host the 40th annual Breeders’ Cup World Championships. Fourteen races will be run over the two-day event with total awards and purses in excess of $31 million. The Breeders’ Cup World Championship is the sports’ premier racing event of the year. The world's best thoroughbreds will take part following qualifying races that took place across the globe.

The Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile is the first race on Saturday and has a 1-mile distance with a $1 million purse. The dirt mile is for 3-year-olds and older male and female and is contested around two turns on the main track. This race is unique in that it provides a run for those looking for something longer than just a sprint and others suited for a shorter distance than the Cup Classic.

This race will have just six participants as two have scratched and the thoroughbred with the best current odds is Charge It, who will have John Velazquez on board while Todd A. Pletcher as trainer. Charge It was a runner-up last year in the Florida Derby with just two prior starts. In 12 career starts, Charge It has earned $801,600 with four wins and three places.

The next best odds belong to Zozos at 6 to 1. Floretn Geroux will be on board and Brad Cox is the trainer. Zozos was victorious in the Ack Ack Stages on September 30th at Churchill Downs which was his seventh victory in 11 career starts, but first graded stakes victory. In 11 career starts, Zozos has seven victories and one place while earning $882,688.

Our money today in this race is on the aforementioned favorite Charge It, who likes to stalk the leaders and has even jumped out and won by 23 lengths when wanting to go wire to wire. With 12 starts, Charge It has plenty of experience and has reached the Winner's Circle four times and therefore knows how to win as winning is not always about the fastest horse but the one who follows the best route. Pick: Charge It.
