Breeders' Cup Classic 11/04/23 - Horse Racing Picks & Predictions

On November 3-4 Santa Anita Park in Arcadia, California will host the 40th annual Breeders’ Cup World Championships. Be prepared for all the Breeders Cup action with our horse racing picks. . Fourteen races will be run over the two-day event with total awards and purses in excess of $31 million. The Breeders’ Cup World Championship is the sports’ premier racing event of the year. The world's best thoroughbreds will take part following qualifying races that took place across the globe.

This is thoroughbred racing’s defining event where champions are crowned. This event ends the year for thoroughbred racing and this race has a $6 million purse. The race is 1 ¼ miles on dirt with the world's top international thoroughbreds. Triple Crown race winners take part each year and it's open to horses that are 3 years old and older with both male and females. The race is limited to just 14 starters.

The race favorite with morning line odds of 3 to 1 is Arabian Knight. Flavien Prat will be on board, while Bob Baffert is the trainer. Arabian Knight began the Saturday program of the Breeders’ Cup last year with a victory and followed that with another victory in January. The Triple Crown was bypassed and following a third place finish, Arabian Knight captured a win in September to give him three wins in four starts.

Ushba Tesoro has the second best morning line odds at 4 to 1. The Japan-based thoroughbred will have Yuga Kawada on board with Nororu Takagi as the trainer. In 30 starts, Ushba Tesoro has over $9.2 million in total earnings. This year a switch to dirt from turf has helped the thoroughbred, who six years ago began a career at 3 for 22 but today is one of the world’s most respected thoroughbreds worldwide.

Although there will be plenty of thoroughbreds trying to catch him, my pick for this Breeders’ Cup Classic is the favorite, Arabian Night. It's hard to bet against a Hall of Fame trainer who opts to skip the Triple Crown with a look to the Breeders’ Cup, but that is just what Bob Baffert did and on Saturday it will all pay off as Arabian Knight will cross the wire first and head to the winner’s circle, giving Baffert another victory. Pick: Arabian Knight.
