Breeders' Cup 2022 - Juvenile Fillies Turf

On Friday November 4, Day 1 of the 2022 Breeders' Cup will be run at Keeneland and will highlight the upcoming stars of horse racing. Friday's card is known as the Future Stars Friday, which includes five races and purse money totaling $7 million. Two of the races have a purse of $2 million each and the other three have a purse of $1 million each.
Friday's third race is the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf with a purse of $1 million and a length of one mile. Mediate has the most career earnings in this race with $342,000, thanks to a lengthy list of impressive starts at varying distances that range between 5 furlongs and 7 furlongs. Mediate is based in Europe and must travel across the pond and stretch to one mile in this outing.
Last Call was the winner of the Natalma Stakes, which had a purse of $500,000, at Woodbine as a longshot at 21-to-1. The Filly was able to burst past Cairo Consort and reach the wire first. The performance gives her respect for this outing. Odds makers don't believe she will have the same performance with a morning line of only 20-to-1 but she cannot be overlooked.
Delight went wire to wire to win the Jessamine Stakes on this same track, earlier this year. In 2020, at the Breeders Cup, which was held at Keeneland that year as well, Aunt Pearl was the winner of the prep Jessamine Stakes and ended up winning this same Juvenile Turf, which in a way bodes well for Delight on Friday.
Jonathan Thomas trained Delight will leave the gate at 4-to-1 and will come home first after successfully holding off favorite Mediate as well as longshot Last Call, who is trained by Kevin Attard. Delight was a wire to wire winner on this track in this year’s Jessamine Stakes, which gives the filly a great deal of confidence against the other entries heading into this Fillies Turf. Winner: Delight 6-to-1.
