Breeders' Cup 2022 - Juvenile

On Friday November 4, Day 1 of the 2022 Breeders' Cup will be run at Keeneland and will highlight the upcoming stars of horse racing. Friday's card is known as the Future Stars Friday, which includes five races and purse money totaling $7 million. Two of the races have a purse of $2 million each and the other three have a purse of $1 million each.

The fourth race on Friday's card at Keeneland is the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile, which has a $2 million purse and is 1 mile and 1/16 in length. The favorites include Cave Rock, who has raced well in California. Cave Rock was a winner in the American Pharoah Stakes as the 2-to-5 favorite in only his second career outing. Bob Baffert is Cave Rock’s trainer. Cave Rock has already run this length and is the 4-to-5 morning line favorite.

Blazing Sevens (6-to-1) was victorious in the Champagne Stakes, which had a purse of $500,000 at Aqueduct in only his third career race. Blazing Sevens trailed the frontrunners on that day but running through slop was able to take the lead late and hold on at a price of 8-to-1.

Forte (4-to-1) cannot be overlooked in this Juvenile on Friday. Forte has already won at this track. In October, Forte was victorious in a Breeders’ Futurity, which was the same length as Friday's Juvenile. Forte does not have the experience that both Cave Rock and Blazing Sevens have but must be respected after having already won on this track.

Cave Rock has been a strong racer in California winning the American Pharoah Stakes and has one of the best trainers in the business in Bob Baffert. Cave Rock is familiar with this length of race giving him a definite advantage amongst the other entries on Friday. Forte at 4-1 and Blazing Sevens at 6-1 will be close to Cave Rock, but will both come up short. Winner: Cave Rock 4-to-5.
