Tabia is ranked 8th on the leaderboard with a total of 100 points and $400,000 in no restricted stakes earnings. Tabia has one race at 1 1/8 mile under his belt with a 1st place finish at the Run Happy Santa Anna Derby.
Taiba is one of the least experienced in the Derby, with this being only his third start. But his sale at $140,000 has risen some ears in the horse racing world as a yearling, he was later sold at the Fasig-Tipton Florida March sale of two-year-olds for $1.7 million.
Tabia won his debut over six furlongs in March before and was then turned over to current trainer Tim Yakteen. Tabia is from the boastful crop of 2016 Kentucky Derby 3rd place finisher Gun Runner, Taiba is from mare Needmore Flattery, who won 17 races, who stayed at least 1 1/8 miles. Taiba can very well stay 1 1/4 miles, based on pedigree and from the manner of his previous win at Santa Anna.
Tabia has a shot in this one at 12-1. Eventhough he is one of the least experienced in tis field Tabia has the pedigree and stamina to place in this years Kentucky Derby. If you are looking for a not so favorite not so long shot bet Tabia is definitely worth a look or two.
