2021 U.S. Open 6/17/21 - PGA Picks, Odds & Betting Predictions

The third major of the season tees off on Thursday, as the US Open will be played from Thursday through Sunday at Torrey Pines in San Diego, California. The last time the US Open was played at Torrey Pines was in 2008 when Tiger Woods was the winner. Woods will not take part this week, but Bryson DeChambeau returns as the tournament’s defending champion. The betting favorite this week is Jon Rahm (+1000).

The US Open is loaded with top players in the world rankings as is every major and notables looking for a victory in the prestigious event include  Phil Mickelson, Dustin Johnson, Brooks Koepka, Jordan Spieth, Justin Thomas, Rory McElroy, Collin Morikawa and Xander Schauffele. Other talented golfers such as Patrick Reed and Tyrrell Hatton cannot be overlooked.

The US Open will be played on the south course at Torrey Pines which is a long 7,652-yard par 71. Not only does length come into play, but narrow fairways will make accurate shots off the tee that much more important this week, as players attempt to remain out of the deep rough. Although length is important, the short game will also come into play as players attempt to recover from being in the rough off the tee or on an approach to the green.

Patrick Cantlay is +2500 to win this week. Two weeks ago at the Memorial, Cantlay was helped by the withdrawal of Jon Rahm due to covid and earned the victory. Cantlay struck the ball very well at the PGA Championship last month. Cantlay has finished in the top 15 in three straight visits to Torrey Pines. While others will be the focus of fan and media attention for the opening two rounds, Cantlay can play in relative obscurity and remain near the top of the leaderboard until moving day on Saturday and then lift the Claret Jug on Sunday. Final Pick, Patrick Cantlay +2500
