2021 Players Championship 3/11/21 - PGA Picks, Odds & Betting Predictions

This week the PGA tour, following Bryson Dechambeau’s victory at Bay Hill Club & Lodge last Sunday, heads to the TPC Sawgrass two hours north on I-95 from Bay Hill for the Players Championship. This prestigious tournament has not had a back-to-back champion since TPC Sawgrass started hosting the event in 1982. Although this is not a major on the Tour, it has been given the nickname of “fifth major” by not only sportswriters but players themselves.

The Players Championship always has a deeply talented field and this year's 154 participants are no exception. Forty-eight of the top 50 players in the world rankings will tee off on Thursday. The only players in the top 50 in the world rankings not participating are Brooks Koepka and Matthew Wolff. DeChambleau made easy work of Bay Hill last weekend and has the second best odds to win this week behind only Dustin Johnson.

TPC Sawgrass is a Par 72, 7,245-yard menace to players. The course has Bermudagrass greens, trouble lurking around every bend and is showcased by the Par 3 17th hole with its famous island green that has cost more than one player a Players Championship title on Sunday afternoon.

Top 20 Players Championship Odds

  • Dustin Johnson +1000
  • Bryson DeChambeau +1200
  • Rory McIlroy +1200
  • Jon Rahm  +1400
  • Justin Thomas  +1800
  • Xander Schauffele  +1800
  • Viktor Hovland  +1800
  • Collin Morikawa  +2000
  • Webb Simpson  +2000
  • Patrick Cantlay  +2200
  • Tony Finau +2500
  • Jordan Spieth +2500
  • Patrick Reed  +3300
  • Hideki Matsuyama  +3300
  • Tyrrell Hatton +3300
  • Daniel Berger +4000
  • Tommy Fleetwood  +4500
  • Jason Day +5000
  • Joaquin Niemann  +5000
  • Scottie Scheffler  +5000

It is rare to see Justin Thomas (+1800) with only the fifth best odds to win a PGA Tour event, but that's where he is to start this week's Players Championship. Thomas went through a stretch earlier this season of seven consecutive finishes of 12th or better, but has cooled off somewhat over the last two weeks. Thomas is sixth in strokes gained approaching the green and has had prior success at TPC Sawgrass, with a third-place finish in 2016 and an 11th place finish in 2018. Thomas will pick up the victory on Sunday with an excellent back-nine on Sunday. Final Pick, Justin Thomas +1800
