2021 PGA Championship - PGA Picks, Odds & Betting Predictions

The second major of the 2021 golf season tees off on Thursday as the PGA Championship will be played on the Ocean Course at the Kiawah Resort on Kiawah Island near Charleston, South Carolina. Rory McIlroy arrives as one of the favorites after winning the Wells Fargo Championship just two weeks ago for his first victory in the last 18 months. McElroy is the betting favorite not only following his victory two weeks ago but he also has won the PGA Championship at Kiawah in 2012.

Bryson DeChambeau is also one of the favorites on a course that is nearly 7.900 yards long. However DeChambeau did not play well last week at the Byron Nelson Tournament. Other notables that could be in the final pairings on Sunday include Collin Morikawa, Dustin Johnson, John Rahm, Justin Thomas, Jordan Spieth, Brooks Koepka, Hideki Matsuyama and Xander Schauffele.

The Ocean Course was designed amongst the sand dunes and hosted the 1991 Ryder Cup as well as the 2012 PGA Championship.  Several of the course’s tee boxes have been changed at the golf course. Fairway bunkers have been reshaped as well as some of the waste areas. The golf course is made up nearly entirely of paspalum grass, with the rough overseeded with winter perennial ryegrass. Many were expecting to see overseeded fairways and greens, but because of a warm spring, the greens and fairways will be almost all paspalum.

Justin Rose (+8000) performed very well at the 2021 Masters last month finishing seventh after holding the lead following the first 18 holes and entering the weekend after the second round. Rose was tied for third at the course in 2012 in the PGA Championship but a distant nine strokes behind the winner McElroy (-13). However, Rose has a game that is suited for the swirling, howling winds and different conditions that come into play along the ocean. Final Score Prediction, Justin Rose (+8000) wins.
