2021 Palmetto Championship 6/10/21 - PGA Picks, Odds & Betting Predictions

Last Updated: 06/09/2021 at 9:49 AM ET

On Thursday, the PGA Tour will be in Gillisonville, South Carolina for the start of the Palmetto Championship at Congaree. This is the last event before the third major of the season, the US Open that starts next week on June 17th. This event will be held just once as it is replacing the RBC Canadian Open that had to be canceled because of logistical problems related to the current covid-19 situation.

Headlining the field teeing off on Thursday is the world’s No. 1 ranked Dustin Johnson (+775), who is the favorite. However, Johnson has struggled with his game of late. Only six golfers in the top 30 of the world rankings will compete this week because of next week's US Open. Besides Johnson, other notables include Brooks Koepka, Tyrrell Hatton, Sungjae Im, Tommy Fleetwood and Ian Poulter amongst others.

Congaree Golf Club is a 7685-yard par 71. The golf course plays amongst longleaf pine forests and acres of lakes. The greens are open fronted and allow for players to run up shots on closely mown runoff areas. The makeup of the course is highlighted by several risk-reward par 4s and long testing par 5s.

Top 20 Odds to win Palmetto Championship

  • Dustin Johnson +775
  • Brooks Koepka  +925
  • Tyrrell Hatton +1200
  • Matt Fitzpatrick +1300
  • Sungjae Im +1700
  • Tommy Fleetwood +2650
  • Ian Poulter +2800
  • Alex Noren +2800
  • Lucas Glover +2900
  • Harris English +2900
  • Harold Varner III +3500
  • Kevin Kisner +4650
  • Patton Kizzire +4650
  • Keith Mitchell +4650
  • Garrick Higgo +4650
  • Russell Knox +5500
  • Brandt Snedeker +5500
  • Jhonattan Vegas +7500
  • Doc Redman +7500

Jhonattan Vegas is well down the odds list at +7500, but has great value in a field with only six golfers in the top-30 of the world rankings. Vegas is second in this field in ball striking during the last 12 rounds and 21st over the last 24 rounds in putting on fast greens. Vegas plays aggressive and that should produce several birdies throughout the four-day event. The Venezuelan has made the cut in nine of the last 10 events and with a victory this week would solidify his place in the FedEx Cup standings, where he currently is 103rd. Final Pick, Jonathan Vegas +7500
