2020 Shriners Hospitals for Children Open 10/8/20 - PGA Picks, Odds & Betting Predictions

Last Updated: 10/05/2020 at 12:02 PM ET

The PGA Tour heads to Las Vegas this week for the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open at the TPC Summerlin. Bryson DeChambeau, who won the US Open just last month, returns for his first start since winning his first major and was the Shriners champion and 2018. The PGA Tour is ramping up again after a pair of events that many of the world's top players did not participate in. Patrick Cantlay, who won this event in 2017, returns this year. Cantlay was also runner-up to DeChambeau in 2018 and lost to Kevin Na, the 2019 champion in a playoff.

Defending Champion Kevin Na returns to look for his second consecutive victory in this event. Other well-known golfers on tour that return to play this week include Paul Casey, Tony Finau, Jason Day, Rickie Fowler, Hideki Matsuyama, Sergio Garcia, Francesco Molinari, Collin Morikawa, Scott Scheffler, Matthew Wolff and Webb Simpson. Eleven of the world's top 25 players will compete this week

TPC Summerlin has been open since 1991 just outside Las Vegas and is a 7255-yard par 71 that has Bermuda grass fairways and rough. The greens are bent grass and due to the hot climate during the day and cool nights the greens average 11 on the stimpmeter, which is just below the average for the PGA Tour. The course consists of rocky waste areas and several changes in elevation with plenty of uphill as well as downhill holes. Putting will be one of the most important parts of the game this week at the TPC Summerlin.

Cantlay won this event in 2017, finished second in each of the next two years losing to Bryson Dechambeau by one stroke in 2018 and in a playoff last year to Kevin Na. Although Cantlay has not played well of late, his best finish was a T-12 in six events but posted top-20 finishes in three of them, his prior success at this course will be the medicine he needs to get back on track. Final Pick, Patrick Cantlay +1800
