Seven of the 24 players taking part finished in the top 25 off the Masters tournament last month. This will be the 11th time Sabbatini has played in the shootout, while it's the first time that Louis Oosthuizen is taking part. Cameron Champ will team up with Tony Finau, to create a team of two of the longest hitters on the PGA tour. On day one the Scramble format will be used, followed by Modified Alternate Shot on day two and Four-ball on the final day. In Modified Alternate Shot, each player drives on every hole and one of the two drives is selected. The player who's drive is not selected then hits the second shot in the two teammates alternate shots until the hole is completed. Four-ball is when each player plays every hole using his own ball and the lowest score on each hole is counted for the team.

The formats played during the three-day event require plenty of eagles and birdies to keep pace and Niemann and Munoz are capable of doing that. Munoz is currently tied for 13th in birdie or better average, while Munoz tied for 32nd a season ago. Niemann has finished T-27 or better in each of his last eight tournaments played.
