2020 Northern Trust Open - PGA Odds, Picks & Betting Predictions

Last Updated: 08/17/2020 at 2:06 PM ET

The Northern Trust Open will start the 2020 FedEx Cup playoffs at TPC Boston on Thursday and features the top 125 players in the points standings for the FedEx Cup. The top 70 finishers advance to the BMW Championship the following week at Olympia Fields in Illinois. Last year, the TPC Boston did not host the tournament as it alternates each year with the Liberty National Golf Club as the host of the prestigious event.

Patrick Reed is the defending champion and opens the event with odds of + to repeat. The last time TPC Boston hosted a FedEx Cup event was the Dell Technologies Championship in 2018 won by Bryson Dechambeau by two strokes over Justin Rose. In that tournament, Tiger Woods finished T-24 and returns to action this week. Past winners at the TPC Boston include Dechambeau. Justin Thomas, Rickie Fowler, Henrik Stenson and Rory McIlroy twice.

TPC Boston is a 7,342-yard par-71. The course has lush fairways, bentgrass greens and 58 bunkers that will test the best of golfers starting Thursday. The 18th hole at TPC Boston is a par 5 and in 2012 was altered to feature an elevated, smaller green and makes for an excellent finishing hole where players can go for the green in two, especially on Sunday if trailing by just one or two strokes.

Reed has finished in the top 10 three times since returning from the covid-19 hiatus and will win for the second consecutive year at the Northern Trust this week. Final Pick, Patrick Reed +2800
