The PGA Tour remains at the Muirfield Village Golf Club for a second consecutive week to play the Memorial Tournament hosted by Jack Nicklaus from July 16-19. The field will be star-studded and includes the return of Tiger Woods. The top nine players in the world rankings will tee off starting on Thursday including Rory McIlroy, Jon Rahm, Dustin Johnson, Webb Simpson and Justin Thomas. Other top names in the field include Brooks Koepka, Patrick Reed, Patrick Cantlay and Bryson DeChambeau.
DeChambeau won the tournament in 2018 and Cantlay was victorious in 2019 and both are currently ranked and the top 8 in the world. In all, 26 of the 30 players who took part in the Tour Championship last season are scheduled to tee off in the first round on Thursday. Justin Thomas is coming off a playoff loss on Sunday to Collin Morikawa that moved Morikawa to No. 6 in the FedEx Cup standings.
The Muirfield Village Golf Club is a 7,456-yard par 72. The fairways and rough are made up of Bentgrass, with poa annua, Kentucky Bluegrass, ryegrass and fescu. The greens consist of bentgrass and poa annua.To win at Muirfield Village, one must have strong approach play and excellent play near and on the greens. While long hitters have the advantage, accuracy off the tee will leave players with better opportunities on their approach to the green.
