Overwatch League - New York Excelsior vs Guangzhou Charge 4/26/20 - Esports Picks, Odds, & Predictions
Yet another week of competitive Overwatch is underway, and this time we have a fairly one-sided match-up on our hands: New York Excelsior vs. Guangzhou Charge. It’s been a few weeks since we’ve last seen New York flex their immense talent and mechanical prowess on the Overwatch League stage (in an online-only environment), and they wasted no time in reminding everyone just how good and dangerous they really are in their opening clash with Chengdu yesterday. It was one of the quickest and most dominant shelackings you’ll see in 2020.
This game, frankly speaking, should be no different. The New York Excelsior are in a league of their own and they’ve been a top-tier performer for two and a half years for a reason. The fact that they never won a championship in no way diminishes their depth and sheer, awe-inspiring talent.
Guangzhou, on the other hand, aren’t half bad. They are, however, obviously not as good as the best Pacific East teams currently competing. They were outclassed by Shanghai Dragons just mere hours ago in swift 0-3 fashion. They're currently sitting at a fairly acceptable 4W-5L record which is by no means abysmal, but they're evidently a middle-of-the-pack Asian team without much room for growth.
If New York comes out the gates swinging, we should be in for yet another quick 3-0 finish. Guangzhou, even on a good day, lack the strength and potential which are necessary to compete with a team of NYXL’s caliber.
