North American LCS - Evil Geniuses vs. FlyQuest 4/18/20 - Esports Picks, Odds, & Predictions

The North American 2020 Spring Split is just two Best of 5s away from completion. It was certainly a thrilling ride, filled with many unexpected twists and turns, and even though we didn’t get the conclusion everyone expected, we’re still in for an action-packed weekend that’s going to entertain us beyond measure. .

Had someone told you that Evil Geniuses and FlyQuest would be clashing for the chance to reach the LCS finals, you would’ve probably laughed them out of the room. After all, there are so many perennial giants who were initially favored: Team Liquid, Team SoloMid, and even 100 Thieves — an organization that has accomplished more in its short two-year LCS stint than many others who’ve been around for what feels like an eternity.

Still, Evil Geniuses and FlyQuest really are some of the best teams that North America has to offer, and they’ll be fighting for a chance to lift the LCS trophy on Sunday. For both organizations, this is a seismic accomplishment, further strengthened and highlighted by the fact that no one really believed in them coming into 2020.

This is also a repeat of their clash from April 4th, when Evil Geniuses took the match in 3-1 fashion. That said, the final score in no way represents how close of a series it actually was. While this is somewhat indicative of their overall power level, it’s important to note that FlyQuest have decided to start with Colin “Solo” Earnest in the top lane, a “simple” band-aid fix that instantly elevates their level of play. We’ve seen just how better and more cohesive they look with a consistent top laner, someone who can stand his ground and compete blow for blow even without any resources. By the same token, a more stable top side of the map has completely unlocked Tristan “PowerOfEvil” Schrage who looks like an absolute behemoth at the moment. The German import is having a renaissance and watching him dominate and play to the best of his ability is an absolute treat.

These two teams are separated by the slimmest of margins, which means we’re in for one heck of a series. In the end, however, seeing how the odds are too good to miss out on, we’re going to side with FlyQuest on this one. If they manage to impose their will early on, we could be in for quite a hefty payout.
