The repeat of one of the most exciting and mind-blowing Best of 5s in recent LEC history. Whenever these two teams step foot on stage to compete, there’s always a reason to tune in. When they’re facing each other, however, then it’s pretty much an absolute must watch. This might sound a bit dramatic, but it is by no means incorrect. Both G2 and MAD are some of the best and most talented teams we’ve ever seen, and they play such an entertaining brand of League that it’s downright impossible not to be blown away. They’re the epitome of aggression, flexibility, and sheer lunacy on the Summoner’s Rift. Perhaps above all, they just want to have fun. They’re five friends who are enjoying life and their calling to the fullest, and naturally, they play without reserve or hesitation as a result.

We’ve already seen these two behemoths compete in the Best of 5 format twice throughout 2020, and both clashes will surely be long remembered. The first time they squared off, MAD was able to eke out a 3-2 win in the most unexpected of ways. Once the rematch came around, G2 prepared much better and as a result, managed to emerge victorious. That match went 3-1 in G2’s favor but it was by no means less competitive or nerve-wracking.

This is truly a spectacle in every sense of the word. Two teams at the top of their game, both hungry for redemption (for different reasons), and equipped with all the right tools for the job. There’s a ticket to the World Championship on the line and, as expected, both teams will surely step foot on the Rift and go for plays like their lives depend on it. That’s the goal, at least, and that’s how they’ve been playing even when they didn’t have anything to fight for. This time is different, and they know it. Still, the defending champions have earned our trust, and their biggest strengths and virtues tend to shine brightest when they’re competing in a Best of 5. That’s when their experience and grit become determining factors. G2 play best when their backs are against the wall and MAD Lions have more than enough mechanical prowess and talent to trade blows right from the very get-go.

We’re going with G2 Esports on this one as they’ve only fumbled twice in this format over the last two years — once against the defending World Champions FunPlus Phoenix, and once against MAD. They’re far from perfect, but they know what they’re up against and should be able to prepare accordingly. Either way, expect one of the most entertaining matches of 2020.
