Dignitas vs. Team SoloMid 6/14/20 - 2020 LCS Summer Split

Regardless of your allegiance, there’s always a reason to tune in whenever Team SoloMid steps foot on the Summoner’s Rift to compete. They might not be as good or dominant as in year’s past, but that doesn’t mean they’re undeserving of your undivided attention. This is especially true this time around as they’ve brought over Yiliang “Doublelift” Peng from Team Liquid — North America’s most dominant and successful native player. These two are by no means an unknown pairing as they’ve already won the LCS on multiple occasions back in 2016 and 2017. In other words, many fans across the globe were hoping for such a reunion and it finally came to fruition.

Will it be enough, however? They’ve signed a more seasoned veteran in the bottom lane, someone who already has synergy with their mid laner and support, but have downgraded in the jungle position. Overall, no one’s quite sure whether they’ll synergize in time to start the split off with a bang. Still, there’s a lot to like with their line-up and with such grizzled veterans (who are by no means past their prime) under their banner, it’s fair to expect the best and most dominant incarnation of TSM in years.

Opposite them, we have a fairly solid Dignitas line-up — a roster that’s brimming with aggression and mechanical talent. Still, they lack the cohesion and experience when compared to TSM and are far more one-dimensional. Despite their inherent flaws, they could certainly employ the brute force method — a peculiar style of play for which they’re already known for. An upset could happen, as is so often the case at the start of the split, but it’s highly unlikely given TSM’s breadth of experience and overall mental fortitude.

We’re going with Team SoloMid on this one, but it’s far from a one-sided affair. Any number of things could go awry for either team in-game and with both line-ups being slightly different than in Spring, synergy will probably be lacking. Still, the boys in black and white should be able to emerge victorious through strong laning and stellar team fighting.
