Right after the LEC el clasico concludes, we’ll be greeted with yet another one, albeit across the Atlantic. Cloud9 and Team SoloMid is a tale as old as time, and it has always managed to deliver, regardless of meta. We’re talking about two of the most accomplished and long-standing organizations in the entire region, and the sheer fact that they’re still at the top of their game even after so many years is a testament to their work ethic and incredible management.

This time around, however, neither team is sitting atop of the LCS, but they’re still pretty darn good at League of Legends. They’re rough around the edges, is all, and it’s quite evident whenever they fail to impose their playstyle. Cloud9 still doesn’t have a good enough read of the meta and they’ve been underperforming — both individually as well as a five-man unit. Team SoloMid, on the other hand, just doesn’t have that impressive of a line-up. There’s something missing, primarily in the jungle and top lane, with BrokenBlade underperforming more often than not. Fortunately, with Bjergsen and Doublelift aboard, they have more than enough weapons to not only contest for a spot at the top but also win more often than not.

Still, even at their best, their play leaves a lot to be desired. There’s quite a lot on the line tonight, with the winner of this one Best of 5 going to the World Championship come October. Unfortunately, all signs are pointing towards TSM missing out on Worlds yet again, for the third year in a row. They're good, but they’re not great, and to slot into Top 3 they need to punch way above their weight class. Fortunately, they’re not going to go down without a fight — they’re not that kind of team. We’re siding with Cloud9 on this one, but it’s going to be close; both teams will fight their heart’s out, and it’s going to go down to the wire. Expect an absolute spectacle, with Cloud9 ultimately emerging victorious.
