Cloud9 vs Evil Geniuses 6/21/20 – 2020 LCS Summer Split

To close things out, we have an absolute barnburner: Cloud9 vs. Evil Geniuses. How do you not tune in to such a clash? This is basically a fight between two of the most aggressive line-ups North America has to offer. They’ll fight on level one regardless of the odds and they’ll do so with absolute glee. As far as C9 and EG are concerned, there’s no bad moment to go for a skirmish, to engage, or to collapse on an unsuspecting member of the opposing team.

That’s simply the way they play the game, and it’s quite a thing to behold. Cloud9, of course, are the heavy favorites coming into the game and there’s a very good reason why that’s the case: they’re one of the most dominant champions in the history of the region. Still, no one should forget that it was Evil Geniuses who gave Cloud9 their first loss in the playoffs (and second loss overall). It was just a single game and it wasn’t enough to win them the series, but it did happen, and they were making things incredibly competitive — against a team many thought would just steamroll them without much effort.

Evil Geniuses are much better than people give them credit, and even though they’re inherently volatile (a trait that makes betting on/against them so tricky), they’re more than capable of matching Cloud9, at least in the early and mid stages of the game. As the game progresses, however, they become a bit too sloppy and reckless which eventually allows Cloud9 to find an opening and capitalize big time.

This game should be no different. Expect absolute chaos on all fronts once these two teams spawn on the Summoner’s Rift. In the end, however, Cloud9 will surely find an avenue towards success and get the win, much like they always do.
