Winnipeg Blue Bombers at Ottawa Redblacks 6/17/22 - CFL Picks & Predictions

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers look for their second consecutive victory when visiting the Ottawa Redblacks on Friday in a CFL Week 2 showdown. Winnipeg opened its regular season with a 19-17 victory over the Redblacks last Friday. Winnipeg backup quarterback Dru Brown replaced the injured Zach Collaros late in the game and on the last drive completed three consecutive passes to set up a game-winning field goal 25 yards by Marc Liegghio.

Through one game of the regular season Zach Collaros has passed for 188 yards with one touchdown, while back up Dru Brown, who could see action on Thursday, has passed for 51 yards. Brady Oliveira is the leading rusher for Winnipeg with 17 yards. The leading receiver is Greg Ellingson with seven receptions for 74 yards including one touchdown while Dalton Schoen has six receptions for 69 yards.

Ottawa looks to bounce back from its opening week loss on the road against Winnipeg with a victory over the Blue Bombers at home on Thursday. Ottawa played well throughout the matchup in Week 1 with the defending Grey Cup champions, but could not hold Winnipeg from driving down the field on the final possession and setting up a field goal to defeat the Red Blacks.

Ottawa quarterback Jeremiah Masoli passed for 380 yards with one touchdown and one interception in the loss to Winnipeg. The leading rusher was Devonte Williams with 33 yards. Jaelon Acklin was the leading receiver with eight receptions for 143 yards including one for 51 yards. Darvin Adams caught nine passes for 71 yards while Shaquille Johnson was the only player for the Redblacks with a touchdown reception.

Ottawa is coming off a disappointing loss to Winnipeg even though the Redblacks led Winnipeg in nearly every statistical category in last week’s two-point setback. However, the play here is the UNDER. Last week the two scored a combined 36 points which easily cashed UNDER the closing line of 49 points. The UNDER has cashed in each of Ottawa’s last seven overall and in four out of the Redblacks last five at home. Final Score Prediction, Winnipeg Blue Bombers win but our best play is UNDER 23-17.
