CGY -2.5 Total 55
After finishing 15-2-1 last season and storming through the CFL Western Division, The Calgary Stampeders lost to Ottawa in the Grey Cup. The Stampeders are hoping for revenge as they open up the 2017 season against the RedBlacks. Gunslinger Bo Levi Mitchell once again is behind center for Calgary and aims to improve upon the 5300 yards he threw for last season.
Mitchell has a variety of underrated targets including DaVaris Daniels (51 receptions, 885 yards, 9 touchdowns), and Anthony Parker (51, 654, 4) to throw the ball. Running Back Jerome Messam is another player to watch on offense for Calgary and ran for nearly 1200 yards and caught 54 passes last season.
After winning the Grey Cup last year, the Ottawa RedBlacks are hoping to make it back to back in 2017. Quarterback Trevor Harris will be behind center full time for the RedBlacks this season after splitting time with Henry Burris last year. Harris managed to throw for 3301 yards and 16 touchdowns last year and should improve upon those numbers in 2017.
Wide Receiver Greg Ellingson returns after a 2016 season in which he caught 76 passes for 1260 yards and 4 touchdowns and figures to post similar numbers this season. A pair of former Toronto Argonauts, Kenny Shaw and Diontae Spencer figure to be additional top targets for Trevor Harris. The running back position is a little unsettled for Ottawa as neither Mossis Madu Jr or William Powell have established themselves thus far.
