The Saskatchewan Roughriders visit Edmonton, Alberta on Saturday to play a CFL showdown against the Edmonton Eskimos. The Roughriders improved to 11-5 on the season following 27-19 victory over the BC Lions last Friday. Cody Fajardo threw for 224 yards and one touchdown in the big win, while the defense came through with six sacks, two force fumbles and an interception.
Edmonton is coming off a bye but leading into their bye week the Eskimos earned a 19-6 win over the BC Lions and leveled their record to 8-8, but more importantly clinched a berth in the playoffs. The Eskimos have activated starting quarterback Trevor Harris for Saturday’s game which will be the veteran’s first in six games. Penalties must be cut down as the Eskimos were hit with 14 for 170 yards in the win over BC.
Cody Fajardo leads the Roughriders in passing with 3,873 yards, 16 touchdowns and eight interceptions. The leading rusher for Saskatchewan is William Powell with 997 yards and 12 touchdowns. Shaquelle Evans leads the Roughriders in receiving with 1,246 yards and five touchdowns, while Naaman Roosevelt is second with 852 yards and one touchdown.
Logan Kilgore leads Edmonton with 1,115 yards passing, four touchdowns and eight interceptions. C.J. Gable has 997 yards rushing and two touchdowns to lead the Eskimos. Greg Ellingson has 1,094 yards and five touchdowns to lead Edmonton, while Ricky Collins has 1,004 yards and three touchdowns.
