Roughriders at Tiger-Cats 6/13/19 - CFL Picks & Predictions

On Thursday, the Saskatchewan Roughriders visit the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in the opening game of the 2019 CFL regular season for both teams. The Roughriders lost their final preseason game to the Winnipeg Blue Bombers 35-29. The game was highly competitive as six quarterbacks combined to throw five TD passes. Zach Collaros threw two scoring strikes for the Roughriders in the loss.

Last season Jeremiah Masoli led the Tiger-Cats with 5,209 yards passing, 28 touchdowns and 18 interceptions. Sean Thompson-Erlington is the leading rusher back from last season. Thompson-Erlington rushed for 218 yards and one touchdown in 2018. Brandon Banks is the top wide receiver back for Hamilton. Last season Banks caught 94 passes for 1,423 yards and 11 touchdowns. Luke Tasker was close behind with 78 receptions, 1,104 yards and 11 TDs.

While the Roughriders hold an advantage over the Tiger-Cats of late, Hamilton will have the upper hand in this matchup at home. Jeremiah Masoli appears to be in midseason form at quarterback and Brandon banks and Luke Tasker are two legitimate threads at wide receiver. The Roughriders lost top slot back Williams-Lambert who left to play with the Chicago Bears and do not have the receiving threats the Tiger-Cats have. Final Score Prediction, Hamilton Tiger-Cats win and cover ATS 27-23.
